RECENT PROJECT

Since 2014, FFC has strengthened the capacity of more than 280 women candidates and women interested in becoming candidates, some of whom have been appointed to traditional seats of power alongside (male) chiefs. Others, who benefited from learning best practices in leadership, have gone on to become judges, counselors, accountants, and active participants in local councils focused on community safety. In the December 2018 elections, FFC trained 56 women candidates, four of whom were elected to become deputies who currently sit in the National Assembly and in the Provincial Assemblies. Beyond this, leveraging our partnerships with other organizations has allowed us to train 437 women to work in “peace huts” where election monitoring takes place and election disputes are resolved.
