The organization Femme de Bonne Nouvelle led a project for the economic reintegration of widowed women in the rural commune of Oicha in the territory of Beni. This project aimed to contribute to the empowerment of 100 women by learning market gardening and financial management. After the training, the women received seeds and gardening tools as well as chick kits to set up a chicken coop. Thanks to these activities, these women sell cabbage and eggs and the earnings generated allow them to ensure their autonomy and take care of their children.
A beneficiary of the project related:
“I am a widow and mother of 4 children. This project has put a smile back on my face. The organization provided us with land where we can carry out cabbage cultivation while teaching us gardening, starting a chicken coop, and how to manage an income-generating activity. Thanks to this project, we have set up a chicken coop and our field produced cabbage, which we sold for profit. What I earned, I made available to support my family.”
