Washawasha Women for Development Project: Youth and Adolescent Outreach on Reproductive Health. The rural, mining community of Mongbwalu in Eastern DRC has a great need for family planning. Underage girls experience multiple pregnancies and struggle to space the births of their children. Washawasha Women for Development are organizing an empowerment session for 25 girls on family planning and contraceptive use, sensitizing the community on family planning and contraceptive methods, establishing a framework for contraception and sexual health and HIV / AIDS prevention for young people in rural Mongbwalu, and teaching the Maputo Protocol on sexual and reproductive health rights as it applies to women and youth.
